You are given so much time before each exam to prepare and study, but why do you still feel like you don’t have enough time? Do you leave your work until last minute? Maybe it’s the day before your exam, and you’re sitting in your room, cramming everything you could possibly need to know. Research shows that procrastination is extremely common, with 75% of students considering themselves procrastinators. So here are 3 tips to help you study hard and get a good night’s sleep instead of cramming the night away.

Set Simple, Achievable Goals

Break down your goals into smaller tasks in order to maximise your focus and attention on studying. Looking at the amount of work we need to complete can be very intimidating, so breaking them into smaller tasks can help you to take steps to get to the finish line. Starting a task is often the hardest part, so once you get going make sure to take a break when you feel yourself losing focus.

Find the Perfect Environment

If you can see temptations, you are more likely to be distracted by them, and therefore procrastinate, like having a phone lying around, or the TV volume turned up. Often, many students have reported that they study better in a more quiet environment like a local library or a quiet cafe. Apps, for example, Forest, are good study apps, that prevent you from using your phone within a specific time frame, set to your own liking. Remove any distractions, sit down and get studying!!

Plan and Conquer

Use incentives to reward yourself after a specific amount of focus time. Recently, one popular method, known as the Pomodoro Technique, has been helping many students focus more attentively. Below are the steps you need to follow along, so just close your door, set a timer and work away!
